ABOUT FTA

The FTA is a registered, not-for-profit organization with established by-laws that is governed by a board of directors supported by working committees in the areas of fundraising, community outreach, marketing and facility development. 

MISSION

To develop an inclusive community indoor tennis facility servicing the Fundy region, that strives to create an affordable, accessible, and family-friendly environment which drives excellence both on and off the court.

Community

We offer fair and equal access to courts and programs. Open to everyone in the Fundy region and beyond.

Family

We promote a family-friendly environment where all players feel safe, respected, and enjoy a sense of belonging. FTA adheres to Tennis Canada’s Safe Sport Code of Conduct.

We support fair play and want our players to develop and exemplify positive core values when participating in our programs.

Sustainability

We will strive to be a leading environmentally friendly indoor tennis facility that utilizes the latest technology, equipment, and engineering concepts that support environmental sustainability wherever possible.

Excellence & Accountability

We provide an environment that fosters success both on and off the court. Coaching staff will be Tennis Canada TPA certified.

OUR BOARD

The members of our board of directors are thought leaders who have made a significant contribution to our society and this project. Each and every one of them brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our organisation.

Dana Brown, Chairperson

Retired businessperson with 33 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. BBA - UNB, Master’s Certificate in Project Management- University of Waterloo. Active member of Tennis Canada’s Tennis Professional Association (TPA) - Club Pro 1 certified, President - Tennis New Brunswick - 17 years

Hilary Brock, Vice Chair

Senior Investment Advisor with 25 years Wealth Management Practice. Role as Vice Chair on the FTA: actively participates in the work of the committee. Provides thoughtful input to project decisions and oversight in the fundraising campaign.

Dave Seely, Secretary

Lawyer with 15+ years' experience in the oil & gas industry. Involved in all phases of a $1B industrial site from pre-engineering to construction to steady state operations in both a legal and commercial capacity. Role with FTA to include management of various legal, business, and governance matters.

Daniel Verner, P.Eng, MBA, Director, Project Development

Over 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry. Background includes business development, project management, operations management. and engineering. Experience managing complex capital projects ranging from <$1M-$25M. FTA role includes strategic planning, project management oversight, and financial planning and analysis.

Jennifer Brown, CPA, CA, Treasurer

Nine years of public practice experience working on various audit and consulting projects serving large corporate entities across New Brunswick. Experience in industry working in corporate governance, board reporting and corporate social responsibility. Jennifer recently started her own practice as a strategic partner for not-for-profit organizations and local businesses supporting their day-to-day finance needs. Jennifer has a BSc and a BBA from the University of New Brunswick.

Matt Morrison, Director of Membership

Vice-President of the Saint John District Tennis Association and founder of the children’s summer program at Shamrock Park in Saint John. Matt works closely with the City of Saint John Leisure Services as a liason with tennis community for Shamrock Park tennis community. Employed with Irving Oil after serving 11 years at IBM.

Jim Turnbull, Director at Large

Print and broadcast journalist and Business Communications instructor at New Brunswick Community College. Graduate of Mount Allison and Acadia universities and active volunteer board member.

Christiane Vaillancourt, Communications and Community Outreach Lead

Former CBC Saint John Information Morning host, and communications director for Rogers Cable in Atlantic Canada, Northwestel and the National Gallery of Canada. Responsible for two areas at FTA: 1./ Media Content and 2./ Policy Context, working with various not-for-profit and government agencies to better understand how their priorities align with those of the FTA.

Sacha Patino, Fundraising Campaign Co-Chair (Public Capital)

Senior Advisor with the Province of New Brunswick and 20 years of experience in the energy sector working in business development, finance and project management. Sacha has played tennis at several ITF tournaments and was previously the National Swim Coach in his home country. Previous Board experience includes the Project Management Institute of New Brunswick, Canadian Mental Health Association and UNB’s Board of Governors.

Steve Wolf, Tennis Programming & Operations Lead

Current Technical Director for Tennis New Brunswick. Steve has 15 years of experience in the tennis industry and has worked in tennis clubs in both Ontario and New Brunswick.

Katie Rogers, CPA, CA, Finance Committee

Partner with Deloitte Canada, Atlantic Tax and Legal practice. Katie previously served as the Treasurer, Vice-President, and President of the Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary and as a board member of the KV Committee for Disabled Persons. A graduate of St. Thomas University with a BA, Economics. Katie will provide financial governance expertise to the FTA.

Mary Ann Gallagher

Lifelong tennis player. Entrepreneur, who has co-owned Benjamin's Books for 13 years and Shadow Lawn Inn for 10 years both in Rothesay, NB. Regional Manager for Atlantic Canada for Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. Happiest when volunteering. Graduate of Mount Allison University (Bachelor of Commerce) and Saint Mary's University (MBA).
